About the role

  • Assistant/Associate Professor in Pediatric Cardiology at University of Alberta. Focusing on clinical service, teaching, and research in pediatric electrophysiology.

Responsibilities

  • Providing clinical service including inpatient and outpatient electrophysiology and general cardiology care, general cardiology and subspecialty outpatient clinics, and invasive electrophysiology procedures
  • Mentoring of cardiology residents and electrophysiology fellows, formative and bedside teaching as well as research supervision
  • Assessing academic productivity based on clinically initiated research, national and international collaborations, publications, and other related activities
  • Working closely with other programs, interdisciplinary teams, and healthcare professionals to advance Pediatric Cardiology care and the education of Pediatric Cardiology trainees

Requirements

  • MD degree (or equivalent)
  • Completed subspecialty training in Pediatrics and subspecialty training in Pediatric Cardiology
  • Minimum 1 year of dedicated training in advanced Invasive Pediatric Electrophysiology
  • Expertise in the management of patients with inherited arrhythmias
  • Experience in CIED device implantation
  • A track record of publications for mid-career faculty or active involvement in research for junior faculty
  • Certified or eligible to become a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (Pediatric Cardiology) or equivalent
  • Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Flexible and proactive approach to challenges in clinical, academic, and research environments
