About the role

  • Sessional Instructional Assistant supporting management and accounting courses at the University of Toronto Mississauga. Grading, tutorials, exam invigilation, student support, and Quercus course administration.

Responsibilities

  • Grade quizzes, tests, assignments, and exams
  • Meet with or respond to student inquiries during office hours, including virtual office hours where specified
  • Invigilate quizzes, tests, and exams
  • Update course materials and grades on Quercus courseware
  • Attend weekly lectures and/or review lecture material
  • Conduct tutorials, which may include lecturing
  • Provide course administration and TA supervision where required
  • Prepare tests and exams and provide course support services
  • Meet weekly with instructors and attend scheduled tutorial classes where required
  • Perform other duties as required

Requirements

  • Course-specific completion with a minimum grade of A in the required MGT course or equivalent, where specified
  • Bachelor degree in Business/Commerce or related discipline for specified courses
  • Relevant auditing courses and CPA with practical audit experience for MGT321
  • Must have passed the CFE or UFE for MGT325
  • Professional accounting designation, certification, or relevant professional accounting program enrollment for specified courses
  • CPA with specialty EDP auditing or MMPA student status for MGT422
  • Relevant graduate-level finance courses for MGT442
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent knowledge of English grammar and writing for MGT325
  • Course administration, TA, teaching, grading, tutorial, or professional examination marking experience where specified
  • Current knowledge of Canadian Auditing Standards (CAS) for audit courses
  • Ability to use internet-based course and grade delivery and Quercus courseware
  • Experience setting up and delivering Excel and data analytics assignments where specified
  • Availability for scheduled tutorials, office hours, instructor meetings, and/or business-hours meetings at UTM where specified
