About the role
- Staff-level ML Engineer building Yelp’s content and contributor intelligence systems with neural networks, LLMs, and multimodal embeddings. Productionizing end-to-end ML pipelines for Yelp’s local-business platform.
Responsibilities
- Conduct end-to-end analyses, from data wrangling via SQL or Python to statistical modeling and presenting business ideas
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering learning and technical excellence
- Work with large and complex textual and visual datasets
- Support development and deployment of machine-learned models for offline, batch-based data products and online, real-time services
- Work on text and visual understanding and fine-tune transformer models to derive embeddings for multiple input types
- Productionize and automate model pipelines within Python services
- Drive adoption of best practices in ML development and operations
Requirements
- Experience developing and productionizing machine learning models, particularly neural networks, computer vision and LLMs, including their supported data pipelines
- Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, Spark MLlib, XGBoost, and Sklearn
- Strong coding skills in Python or equivalent (Java, C++)
- Solid understanding of engineering and infrastructure best practices
- Experience with LLMs, LLM APIs (OpenAI, Bedrock, etc.), prompt engineering and evaluation
- Curiosity to uncover promising solutions and persistence to carry ideas through to an end goal
