About the role
- Senior Accountant owning AP, AR, billing, reconciliations, and month-end close. Supporting ZestyAI’s AI-powered property and climate-risk intelligence for insurers.
Responsibilities
- Own the accounts payable cycle, including processing and coding vendor invoices, verifying approvals, and preparing payment runs
- Manage the accounts receivable cycle, including customer invoicing, collections, cash application, and outstanding-balance follow-up
- Prepare and issue accurate, timely customer invoices and resolve billing questions and discrepancies
- Perform daily and monthly bank and cash reconciliations
- Review and process employee expense reports and administer the corporate card program
- Assist with timely and accurate month-end close, including journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules
- Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations and clear reconciling items for Controller review
- Support annual financial statement audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and responses to auditor requests
- Maintain and improve accounting policies, internal controls, and process documentation
- Streamline and automate accounting workflows using AI and modern tools
- Support special projects, system improvements, and cross-functional initiatives
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally spanning AP, AR, billing, and general ledger
- Solid working knowledge of US GAAP and full-cycle accounting
- Hands-on experience with cloud accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar)
- Advanced proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets
- Experience with Ramp
- Strong attention to detail and organization
- Ability to meet close deadlines and manage competing priorities
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Judgment to investigate and resolve discrepancies independently
- Clear, professional communication skills
- Collaborative, ownership-driven mindset
- Track record of using automation or AI tools to save time and improve accuracy
- Comfort operating in a fast-paced, remote-first environment
- CPA (or working toward it) is nice to have
- Experience at a high-growth technology or SaaS company is nice to have
- Familiarity with revenue recognition (ASC 606) and SaaS billing workflows is nice to have
