About the role
- Tech Lead Manager leading the Core Infrastructure team at Zip, focusing on observability and modernization initiatives. Overseeing team performance and collaborating on multi-region expansion in Toronto.
Responsibilities
- Define and drive the mission, vision, and strategy for Zip's observability, reliability, and modernization initiatives.
- Manage a high-performing team of 4-5 engineers in the Toronto office, fostering their growth and development.
- Act as a hands-on contributor to the team’s core technical projects.
- Establish and continuously refine processes to ensure excellence in execution and clear communication with stakeholders.
- Collaborate with other engineering leaders in the Toronto office to support and scale the overall Toronto engineering team.
Requirements
- 5 years of experience in software engineering.
- Strong track record of leading teams of engineers on platform or infrastructure projects.
- Hands-on expertise in building and operating large-scale systems, utilizing technologies like AWS, Datadog, Kubernetes, and other open-source solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience with mentoring and developing other engineers.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related technical field (e.g., Physics, Mathematics).
