About the role
- Senior Database Administrator needed for an onsite contract in Kingston, ON. Must have 7-10+ years of DBA experience and expertise in Azure database services.
Responsibilities
- The Database Administrator – Senior will be responsible for the design, implementation, operations, and optimization of enterprise-scale database systems, with a strong focus on Azure PaaS and IaaS database services. This includes managing cloud data services for project delivery such as storage, repositories, virtual machines, disks, key vaults, Data Lake, Data Warehouse, and Data Lakehouse platforms. The role also involves advanced performance tuning and troubleshooting including query optimization, indexing strategies, Azure SQL Query Store analysis, Intelligent Performance & automatic tuning features, wait statistics and IO analysis, TempDB optimization, and understanding Azure throttling limits.
Requirements
- 7–10+ years of experience in Database Administration, including design, implementation, operations, and optimization of enterprise‑scale database systems. Proven expertise administering cloud database platforms, with a strong focus on Azure PaaS and IaaS database services. Experience managing cloud data services for project delivery, including storage, repositories, virtual machines, disks, key vaults, Data Lake, Data Warehouse, and Data Lakehouse platforms. Expertise in Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines. Advanced performance tuning and troubleshooting skills.
