About the role

Software Engineer role at Twilio focusing on internal developer platform, cloud infrastructure, and developer productivity tools. Remote position based in Ontario, BC, or Alberta.

Responsibilities

Develop, test, and deploy backend, frontend, and client-side applications for internal use at Twilio. Collaborate with teammates via peer reviews, planning exercises, and pair programming. Mentor junior engineers. Write tickets, testing plans, runbooks, and internal documentation. Support internal users and ensure system uptime by participating in a 24×7 weekly on-call rotation. Continuously improve Twilio's internal developer platform interfaces, local development tools, and platform onboarding processes. Independently own medium-sized features.

Required: Ability to work in a remote, async software development environment leveraging GitHub, Jira, Slack, and Zoom. Proficiency in any/all of: Typescript, Python, Go, Terraform, Bash. Experience developing and operating software in an AWS cloud environment. Experience with relational database concepts and operations. 5+ years of full-time job experience in a software engineering role. Experience with Terraform, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code concepts. Desired: Prior experience with platform engineering focus. Strong opinions on developer experience and local development best practices. Familiarity with front-end web frameworks (React, Angular, Vue). Familiarity with internal developer platform frameworks (Backstage, OpsLevel, Cortex, Battlestar). Fluency with AI platforms (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot). Experience with SaaS and open source observability tools (OpenTelemetry, Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus).
