About the role

  • Senior Robotics Software Engineer developing perception, control, and autonomy for 4AG Robotics’ mushroom-harvesting robots. Improving field-deployed machines through robotics software, data, and remote diagnostics.

Responsibilities

  • Improve mushroom detection using depth camera systems
  • Use soft grippers to pick mushrooms while minimizing damage
  • Program harvest intelligence to maximize customer crop output
  • Analyze operational data to measure and improve machine performance
  • Guide teams responsible for managing robotics data
  • Build interfaces used by customers
  • Work with growers in Canada, Europe, and Australia
  • Visit customer deployments occasionally
  • Build remote diagnostics, tooling, and testing systems
  • Debug and maintain multiple autonomous machines
  • Operate machines in the test lab and field
  • Contribute across the perception, control, autonomy, and robotics software stack

Requirements

  • Experience with real hardware and robotics
  • Experience interfacing with sensors and motor drives
  • Experience coordinating multiple autonomous systems
  • Experience taking prototypes into production
  • Experience implementing perception and/or control features
  • Experience stitching depth images, localizing, and generating trajectories
  • Experience targeting and tracking objects with vision systems and grasping them with manipulators
  • Understanding of intrinsic and extrinsic calibration in sensor fusion
  • Experience with modern robotics tooling, including simulation, visualization, logging, and ROS2 or similar frameworks
  • Ability to remotely diagnose and update systems and manage robot fleets across multiple sites
  • C++ and Python
  • Broad expertise, grit, curiosity, and willingness to learn mushroom agriculture, robotics, and business
  • Willingness to understand customers, products, and operate machines in test labs and the field
  • Occasional travel to HQ, testing farm, and customer deployments required
