About the role
- Senior Software Developer building Ruby on Rails post-trade automation for Wealthsimple’s Canadian financial platform. Supporting clearing, settlement, reconciliation, and high-accuracy financial operations.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver post-trade automations across depositories for new and existing products
- Contribute to technical design decisions shaping the post-trade processing pipeline
- Mentor developers through pairing, code review, and in-the-moment feedback
- Use AI to accelerate development and explore new ideas in daily team workflows
- Partner with Securities Operations, Product Management, and engineering teams to understand business and technical needs
- Support clearing, settlement, and inventory reconciliation across external depositories
- Build tools that help Securities Operations work efficiently
- Report to the Software Development Manager, Post-Trade Management
Requirements
- Senior-level backend software development experience with a focus on Ruby on Rails
- Experience designing and delivering complex automations or data pipelines in a production environment
- Comfort working with high-stakes, high-accuracy systems where correctness and auditability matter
- Experience mentoring other engineers through code review, pairing, or in-the-moment feedback
- Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with operations, product, and engineering teams
- Experience with Java or Kotlin, React, Oracle, Postgres, Kubernetes, or AWS infrastructure (nice to have)
- Past FinTech experience or exposure to ledgers, brokerage, custody, clearing, or settlement systems (nice to have)
- Experience in a regulated or compliance-sensitive engineering environment (nice to have)
