Fire protection specialist designing suppression and alarm systems for AtkinsRéalis’ Canadian infrastructure projects. Preparing engineering studies, technical reports, and compliance documentation across multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
Lead the design and delivery of fire suppression and fire alarm systems
Prepare drawings, calculations, specifications, and technical reports
Develop fire protection engineering studies, system narratives, and compliance documentation
Participate in field reviews, inspections, on-site engineering testing, and commissioning activities
Coordinate fire protection scope with architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and process engineering teams
Represent AtkinsRéalis’ fire protection discipline in discussions with clients, regulators, project partners, and other stakeholders
Provide technical leadership on complex multidisciplinary projects for senior-level candidates
Mentor and support junior engineers, specialists, and technologists for senior-level candidates
Contribute to continuous improvement, best practices, and knowledge sharing across the fire protection team
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Diploma in Fire Protection Engineering Technology, or related discipline
Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or membership with a recognized engineering or technical association is an asset
5–10 years of experience in fire protection engineering
Experience independently preparing technical reports with minimal guidance from senior team members
Experience in nuclear fire protection engineering is an asset
Familiarity with CSA standards, including CSA N293 and N393, is an asset
Working knowledge of the NBCC, NFCC, provincial codes, and applicable UL, NFPA, CSA, and CAN/ULC standards
Hands-on experience applying NFPA 13, 14, 15, 20, and 24 is required
UL Solutions Integrated System Testing Certification for CAN/ULC-S1001 is an asset
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences and senior stakeholders
Ability to manage differing viewpoints, present sound engineering positions, collaborate across multidisciplinary project teams, and maintain a professional, solution-focused approach
Proficiency in CADD, Revit, AutoSPRINK, and/or HydraCAD
Eligibility to obtain and maintain federal security clearance
Valid driver’s license
