About the role

  • Automotive Paint Technician at Aviva AutoCare Centre responsible for vehicle refinishing and repair processes. Ensuring quality control, safety, and efficient workflow in the painting operations.

Responsibilities

  • De-grease, remove dirt, old paint or rust from vehicle surfaces in preparation for paint application
  • Mix paint pigments to match colour specifications or vehicle’s original colours
  • Implement the paint mixes as specified by the automotive paint engineers
  • Pour paint into spray guns and adjust nozzles and paint mixes for proper paint flow and coating thickness
  • Operate automated body paint systems for various types of vehicles
  • Ensure the painting processes adopted are performed in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible
  • Assist in the development of new paint processes and procedures
  • Monitor painting operations to identify flaws, such as blisters and streaks, and correct their causes
  • Ensure repairs flow through the workshop and identify issues that result in failure
  • Understand repair methodology
  • Act as an active team member who encourages a collaborative working environment focusing on the customer and what matters to them
  • Deliver on promises made to customers ensuring they will be without their vehicles for the shortest possible time
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, tools, and equipment
  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of PPE and handling of materials
  • Promote Aviva AutoCare Centre values and goals

Requirements

  • 5 years or more experience within the automotive repair industry as a paint technician
  • Red Seal – Automotive Painter (410N), or actively registered apprenticeship are an asset
  • Strong knowledge of automotive refinishing and repair practices and procedures
  • Demonstrates adaptability and openness to change with a proactive mindset in embracing new work practices and technologies
  • Excellent organizational, time management and interpersonal skills
  • Strong ability to multi-task
  • Commitment to an environment of continuous improvement
  • Efficient communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Detail oriented approach with an emphasis on Quality control
  • Ability to take direction and perform well under pressure
  • Strong awareness of safety practices and procedures
