About the role

  • Principal DevOps Engineer leading AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform infrastructure for Campspot’s campground reservation software and camping marketplace. Driving automation, reliability, security, and cloud-cost optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, manage, and scale EKS clusters using modern best practices
  • Build and maintain Helm charts for scalable and consistent application deployments
  • Define and manage reproducible infrastructure-as-code across environments using Terraform and Terragrunt
  • Monitor AWS usage and implement strategies to reduce unnecessary cloud spend without compromising performance or reliability
  • Implement and maintain metrics, logs, and alerting systems to support availability and performance
  • Enforce least-privilege IAM policies, secure networking, and effective secrets management
  • Partner with development, product, and security teams to design infrastructure solutions and drive large-scale engineering initiatives
  • Mentor engineers and set the standard for DevOps excellence across the organization
  • Drive infrastructure strategy, cross-team initiatives, cloud-spend optimization, and best practices across deployment, observability, and security

Requirements

  • 8+ years of DevOps, Infrastructure, or SRE experience, including 2+ years in a senior or principal-level role
  • Deep experience with AWS, including EKS, EC2, IAM, VPC, and S3
  • Expert-level knowledge of Kubernetes in production environments
  • Proficient with Helm for application lifecycle management
  • Strong hands-on experience with Terraform and Terragrunt
  • Comfortable scripting in Bash, Python, or Go
  • Experience building and maintaining GitOps workflows, such as Argo CD
  • Proven ability to monitor, analyze, and reduce AWS costs
  • Strong understanding of Linux, networking, and cloud security principles
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, leadership-oriented mindset
  • Experience in regulated or high-compliance environments such as SOC 2, HIPAA, or PCI is nice to have
  • Experience with the LGTM monitoring stack is nice to have
  • Familiarity with Karpenter, ExternalDNS, or EBS CSI driver is nice to have
  • Contributions to open source or DevOps communities are nice to have
  • Candidates must reside in an eligible U.S. state or Canada; candidates outside the listed locations cannot be considered
