Interfacility Transport Coordinator handling emergency assistance and medical transportation requests for Shared Health Manitoba. Coordinating callers, clinical teams, dispatch agencies, hospitals, and public safety partners.
Responsibilities
Answer and process calls for service and requests for assistance
Obtain essential caller information and triage the nature of injuries and illnesses
Monitor and operate communication systems, ensuring communications are maintained and documented
Receive, record, and maintain support information for each case
Process low-acuity calls and administrative requests, enter information into the computer system, and refer callers to appropriate clinical personnel
Advise law enforcement and other agencies of incidents requiring their involvement
Receive and provide information from law enforcement, hospitals, and other agencies to the VECTRS team
Communicate effectively with co-workers to support efficient departmental, program, and regional operations
Follow applicable VECTRS and Shared Health regulations and policies
Participate in safety and health programs, including fire, disaster, and evacuation planning
Collaborate with in-service education programs and serve as a resource to staff and health care professionals
Maintain and update professional skills through continuing education
Provide mentorship and training to team members
Participate in committees and regular staff meetings
Perform other related duties as required
Requirements
Degree/Diploma in a relevant health care or health sciences related discipline from an accredited education institution
A combination of education training and/or experience may be considered
Active member in good standing of an associated regulatory body as appropriate
Experience in a call center environment is highly-desirable
Knowledge or experience working with Emergency Department Information Systems (EDIS) is an asset
Demonstrated knowledge of Emergency Medical Service/medical transportation communication and operations is an asset
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
Typing/Keyboarding skills at 35 wpm

Ability to perform the duties of the position on a regular basis
Competent in Windows-based computer programs
