About the role
- Co-op Student providing engineering support at the City of Ottawa. Involved in research, data analysis, and support for traffic management projects.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for carrying out specific assignments involving the provision of engineering support including research, data analysis and database management
- Preparing reports
- Support all phases of project and product delivery for the development, design, implementation and evaluation of Advanced Traveller Information Systems (ATIS), Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS), CAV projects and other important Traffic Management projects
- Work with the team to support Area X.O Test Track and Smart Intersection deployments
- Assist in all aspects of pilot projects for new technologies, including scoping, resourcing, planning, documentation, data collection and analysis efforts
- Support development, management and enhancement of the City's traveller information systems and spatial data
- Document findings from interviews and research in support of development of the Transportation System Management Action Plan
Requirements
- Enrolment in a recognized co-operative engineering program
- No experience required
- Knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic concepts is desirable
- Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation including the rights and duties of workers
- Ability to conduct research, sort and categorize findings
- Ability to analyze and draw conclusions on information
- Write reports and present information in a clear and direct manner both written and verbal
- Computer applications such as Corel Draw, Excel and Word
- Analytical and research techniques
- Attention to detail
- A valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver’s license (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated
