About the role
- Engineering Manager leading two product engineering teams at Clarity, a platform enabling private-company secondary transactions. Shaping technical direction, people growth, delivery, and AI-native practices.
Responsibilities
- Directly manage two product engineering teams, including Engineering Leads and IC engineers
- Conduct 1:1s and performance reviews, and support career growth and expanded scope
- Shape architecture and technical direction with Engineering Leads
- Review significant technical decisions while Leads retain day-to-day technical ownership
- Partner with the Director to lead and develop the broader Engineering Lead group
- Support prioritization with each product triad through ruthless scoping and incremental delivery
- Assess team delivery, health, effectiveness, and growth trajectory, translating findings into action
- Champion platform health, stability, and operational rigor
- Participate in the management on-call rotation
- Hire and scale the engineering team
- Promote AI-native engineering practices and adoption of AI coding tools
Requirements
- Extensive software engineering experience, typically 8+ years of hands-on experience
- Proven track record managing engineers of different levels, including Staff, typically 3+ years in a formal management role
- Strong IC experience building software at scale
- Preference for experience with Elixir, Ruby, or Typescript
- Effective communication across technical and business stakeholders
- Strong track record as an engineer or manager during rapid growth
- Recent hands-on proficiency with AI-assisted coding tools
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, high-ownership environment
- Preferred: experience in fintech, marketplace platforms, or regulated software environments
- Preferred: experience driving AI adoption as a team-wide process change
