About the role

  • Database Developer managing enterprise SQL databases at Signal49 Research. Supporting data migrations, automation, and collaboration on analytics for economic forecasting.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, monitor, and support our Microsoft SQL databases for sales, marketing and research data.
  • Manage existing SQL Agent jobs, SSIS integration packages and stored procedures
  • Conduct performance tuning of SQL queries for automated job primarily backup and mirroring.
  • Support database setup for Power BI and SQL reporting dashboards used by internal users.
  • Assist in setup and ongoing maintenance of big data environment for our research team.
  • Prep monthly report on database utilization, capacity usage, tracking sheet for issues
  • Support IT Roadmap project assignments
  • Assist in the design and management of secure solutions for both current and future state data systems.
  • Setup, configure and support of Microsoft Fabric for enterprise use and data governance.
  • Create ETL between on prem databases and the Dataverse for CRM, ERP and Microsoft SaaS.
  • Develop a technology data model and schema to support new systems
  • Setup and configure cloud based database setup from MS SQL to Azure.
  • Automate database processes, tasks, and procedures using SQL, Azure and Power Automate.
  • Support role-based access to safeguard the security and integrity of databases and applications.
  • Collaborate with business units to collect requirements for new applications

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree – Bachelor of Science, Computing /Engineering, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in database management and data engineering.
  • SQL Expertise: Knowledge of data extraction from legacy systems (e.g., SQL Server, e-data), cloud databases and Dataverse for Azure Cloud.
  • ETL Tools (SQL SSIS): Hands on experience supporting SSIS packages to extract data from ERP systems and load into Azure Fabric and Databricks for analytics.
  • Working knowledge of star schema.
  • Cloud Data Services (Azure Cloud): Configure backups and proactive monitoring agents and jobs.
  • Scripting (PowerShell, Python, Notebooks): Experience automating maintenance tasks and enable advanced analytics.
  • Soft Skills (Communication): Ability to communicate effectively through MS Teams, Email and SP collaboration tools.
  • Availability to work outside of regular hours/occasional weekends is required.
