About the role

  • Linux Administrator providing support for internal team at Crafty Penguins. Handling client requests, processing tasks, and updating technical documentation in a remote setting.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate and support the internal team
  • Handle client requests from Triage and Sr. Technicians
  • Process Linux patching tasks
  • Conduct Linux health check procedures
  • Support stack deployments for management and monitoring
  • Update technical documentation and asset documentation
  • Review inbound alerts/emails and dispatch accordingly
  • Perform testing on new deployments and products
  • Track all hours worked and assist Sr. Technicians
  • Occasional afterhours work required

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of Linux-based operating systems
  • Experience with ticketing systems like ConnectWise
  • Familiarity with HTTP, Apache, Nginx, PHP-FPM
  • Knowledge of Linux Database Systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite)
  • Understanding of Internet/IP protocols (SMTP, DNS, DHCP, SSH)
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Bash, Python)
  • Familiarity with multiple Linux distributions (Debian/Ubuntu, Red Hat/Rocky, Suse)
  • Experience with Kubernetes or DockerSwarm
  • Certifications on platforms like AWS, Azure, K8S, RHEL
  • 2-year technical diploma (CIS or CS) or greater
