About the role

  • Senior Manager improving historical legal matter data and AI-enabled pricing at Dentons, a global law firm. Building benchmarks, workflows and governance for pricing and matter analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the quality, completeness and consistency of historical matter data across relevant firm systems
  • Identify gaps and inconsistencies limiting comparable-matter analysis and reliable pricing benchmarks
  • Clean, normalize and enrich historical matter data
  • Establish consistent matter classifications, attributes and taxonomies
  • Determine which matter characteristics are most important for pricing and analysis
  • Identify and resolve duplicate, incomplete, anomalous or incorrectly classified data
  • Use generative AI, machine learning and automation to accelerate matter-data classification and enrichment
  • Extract structured information from unstructured matter descriptions and other sources using AI-enabled techniques
  • Develop repeatable workflows for matter categorization, data enrichment and quality assurance
  • Design human-validation processes for AI-generated classifications and outputs
  • Evaluate AI tools based on accuracy, scalability, security and business value
  • Document methodologies, prompts, rules and validation processes
  • Translate pricing requirements into usable data structures with Pricing & Legal Project Management
  • Improve identification of relevant historical matters for new-engagement pricing
  • Support matter benchmarks covering fees, hours, staffing, leverage and other pricing metrics
  • Establish datasets for pricing models, budgeting tools and matter profitability analytics
  • Identify historical patterns related to matter cost, staffing and delivery
  • Support a foundation for AI-assisted matter scoping and pricing
  • Recommend standards for future matter-data capture
  • Develop controls and validation rules to reduce future data-quality issues
  • Document data definitions, taxonomies and transformation logic
  • Align solutions with Finance, Technology, Innovation and broader data-governance requirements
  • Develop a transition plan to sustain processes after the contract concludes

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in data analytics, data management, legal operations, financial analytics, pricing, business intelligence or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience cleaning, transforming and working with complex enterprise datasets
  • Strong practical experience using AI, generative AI or machine-learning tools to solve business problems
  • Experience developing repeatable AI-enabled workflows rather than relying exclusively on manual data remediation
  • Strong proficiency with data-analysis tools such as SQL, Python, Power BI, Alteryx or similar technologies
  • Experience with APIs, data transformation tools or automation platforms is an asset
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to translate business requirements into structured data and analytical solutions
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong understanding of data validation and quality assurance
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience within a law firm, professional services organization or other matter/project-based business is a significant asset
  • Experience with legal financial, time-entry, billing or matter-management data is a significant asset
  • CPA, CFA, MBA, or equivalent professional designation preferred
  • Working knowledge of French considered an asset
  • Familiarity with legal project management methodologies preferred
  • Prior client-facing experience with corporate procurement, legal operations, or in-house counsel teams preferred
  • SQL or other data query skills preferred
