Senior Building Consultant inspecting damaged properties and estimating reconstruction costs for Sedgwick’s risk and claims services. Producing scopes, valuations, audits, and client reports across Canada.
Responsibilities
Perform site inspections of affected residential, commercial, and industrial structures
Gather information required for requested consulting services
Produce detailed construction specifications, scopes of work, and bid documents
Produce appraisals of materials, labour, and equipment required for reconstruction projects
Develop unit costs reflecting local labour, material, equipment, productivity, and site conditions
Produce appraisals and valuations using Xactimate, Microsoft Excel, CoreLogic (Marshall & Swift / Boeckh), and RS Means
Develop cost controls and review restoration options and cost-effective repair solutions
Audit restoration and reconstruction project costs
Coordinate communication between multiple sophisticated stakeholders
Review reports for accuracy and completeness before issuance
Deliver reports to clients on time
Maintain accurate records using designated technology
Manage billings and work in progress
Maintain customer service and client satisfaction
Promote Sedgwick Building Consulting Services to existing and new clients
Mentor new hires in a team-building environment
Support Sedgwick quality assurance programs
Perform other assigned duties and travel as required
Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred
Five (5) or more years of Building Consulting experience is preferred
Eight (8) or more years experience as a Project Manager or Estimator in the Construction or Restoration Industries is required
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presenting information
High level proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, specifically Word and Excel
Ability to read and interpret Architectural and Engineering drawings and specifications
Strong analytical and interpretive skills

Must maintain valid driver’s license with clean driving history

Ability to work outdoors and in damaged buildings with exposure to inclement weather, hazardous materials, moulds, and fungi
Ability to climb ladders or scaffolds for roof or building exterior inspections
