About the role

  • Junior Structural Designer supporting structural assessments, design, tendering, and construction administration. Entuitive delivers innovative building design, construction, and operations solutions across Canada and beyond.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a mix of field and office work
  • Write reports following field work
  • Conduct computer-aided analysis and design of structures
  • Prepare detailed structural designs and calculations complying with Canadian Codes and Standards, specifications, drawings, and sketches
  • Generate tender packages for contractor pricing
  • Work with the project team from initial evaluation through design to construction completion
  • Review submittals and shop drawings during construction
  • Generate contract administration documentation and assist with contract administration duties
  • Conduct site visits to review proposed changes to existing structures
  • Investigate and assess existing structural systems for buildings
  • Measure existing buildings for examination and reinforcement purposes
  • Attend construction progress meetings
  • Complete periodic field reviews during construction
  • Participate in learning, reinforcing, and contributing to Entuitive's one-company philosophy
  • Participate in delivering a consistently high level of service
  • Contribute to internal roles establishing technical standards and design tools
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by Entuitive

Requirements

  • An applicable degree or diploma from an accredited school
  • 1-4 years of related experience
  • Previous design experience, hands-on construction experience and/or work with existing facilities is considered an asset
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with people at all levels, including project stakeholders and clients
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities, and deliverables on an ongoing basis
  • Working knowledge of construction materials and products used in building construction, focusing on concrete, steel, and wood
  • Interest in applying new technology to support project processes
  • Working knowledge and ability to use SAP, Bluebeam, WoodWorks, and various Office programs
  • Valid driver's license
  • Access to and maintenance of a reliable vehicle throughout employment
