About the role

  • Bilingual Residential Mortgage Funder reviewing mortgage files and preparing advances. Supporting Equitable Bank’s Canadian challenger-banking operations through accurate, compliant funding.

Responsibilities

  • Review legal documents in a timely and accurate manner
  • Ensure documents coincide with underwriting documentation and deals fund according to approval
  • Conduct a light audit of each deal to ensure policy and guidelines are met
  • Work with the Single Family Residential – Credit department to clarify gaps or inaccuracies and request additional documentation
  • Complete funding activities, including cutting cheques and setting up property tax accounts, for Conventional and Collateral mortgages
  • Work directly with EQB’s Closing Service Provider and communicate changes, status updates, and unique details through its portal
  • Manage individual and overall team deal flow to meet prescribed deadlines
  • Ensure every deal and all actions adhere to AML, Compliance, and KYC guidelines
  • Meet 100% Quality Assurance and Compliance metrics each month
  • Liaise with Compliance, Mortgage Servicing, Accounting, Single Family Residential – Credit, Underwriting, and Quality Assurance teams
  • Complete memos with supporting details for other departments
  • Provide deal status updates, including closing date changes
  • Approve the release of mortgage funds and carry loans through to funding
  • Follow up on outstanding documents and advise the Closing Service Provider of amendments or changes
  • Prepare mortgage advance cheques

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1–2 years’ mortgage experience; exposure to Prime and Alternative a benefit
  • Bilingual
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to thrive under pressure
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Familiarity with AML and Compliance practice
  • Strong written and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office (Word)
  • Logical thinker with ability to multi-task
  • Post-secondary education (diploma)
  • Must be available to work at month end
  • Must successfully pass a criminal background check and credit check to qualify for hire
