About the role

  • Canadian business immigration Law Clerk at EY, helping companies and employees relocate through visas, work permits, and permanent residence applications. Supporting lawyers, clients, HR contacts, and immigration authorities throughout application lifecycles.

Responsibilities

  • Provide integrated, quality Canadian business immigration services to clients
  • Support multiple and challenging Canadian business immigration engagements
  • Contribute to solutions and ideas for diverse institutional clients
  • Research current processing requirements at service centres and consulates on lawyer instruction
  • Manage application lifecycles, including document collection, drafting, reviewing, editing, and submission
  • Collect information and documentation from HR contacts and applicants
  • Draft complete application packages for supervising lawyer review
  • Ensure applications are filed in a timely manner
  • Meet with lawyers to discuss client questions and relay information to HR contacts and applicants
  • Draft client emails and notify clients of application updates
  • Delegate appropriate work to support staff
  • Follow up with immigration authorities on pending applications
  • Enter billing and general client information electronically in the applicant tracking system
  • Keep lawyers informed of client-related issues
  • Attend relevant seminars and professional development courses as required

Requirements

  • Undergraduate University Degree, College Diploma, or equivalent experience
  • 1–2 years of Canadian business immigration experience
  • Excellent written and verbal French language skills
  • Bilingualism in French and English
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge of Quebec immigration regulations is ideally desired
  • Ability to research Canadian immigration processing requirements
  • Ability to draft, review, edit, and submit application packages
  • Ability to use an applicant tracking system for electronic data entry and billing
