About the role

  • Adjoint·e juridique réserviste bilingue chez Clyde & Co, cabinet international de droit. Soutien flexible aux équipes de litige, dossiers urgents et gestion des procédures à distance.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a floater within the litigation legal assistant team during absences, vacations, and peak periods
  • Handle urgent overflow work, high-priority tasks, and requests requiring prompt attention
  • Collaborate with legal assistants and lawyers to allocate workloads
  • Prepare, draft, review, and format litigation pleadings and documents
  • Manage deadlines, record due dates in calendars, and keep calendars up to date
  • Review documents and correspondence to ensure compliance with client requirements, legal procedures, and grammar rules
  • Open, file, monitor, and manage files and documents
  • Manage communications, including telephone calls, emails, and other correspondence
  • Organize and coordinate meetings between lawyers, clients, and other stakeholders
  • Prepare files for meetings and hearings
  • Perform other relevant duties as business needs arise

Requirements

  • Diploma of vocational studies (DEP) in secretarial studies or a college diploma (DEC) in administration or legal studies, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least 5 to 7 years of relevant experience as a litigation legal assistant
  • Knowledge of legal terminology and procedural rules
  • Fluency in French and English, both written and spoken, is required
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, at an intermediate or advanced level
  • Ability to manage a high volume of files simultaneously
  • Thoroughness, strong attention to detail, and excellent organizational skills
  • Strong ability to work in a computerized environment and learn new software tools
  • Ability to work remotely in an organized, self-directed, and productive manner
  • Client-focused, team-oriented, collaborative, tactful, and discreet
  • Professionalism and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to learn quickly, demonstrate proactivity, and take initiative
  • Familiarity with insurance law is an asset
  • Knowledge of principles and procedures applicable to common law is an asset
