About the role

  • Chief of Staff building performance and accountability systems at FoodHero, Canada’s food-waste reduction app. Supporting executive priorities, people operations, board governance and AI adoption.

Responsibilities

  • Report directly to the President and participate in executive committee meetings
  • Build and manage FoodHero’s performance management system
  • Translate quarterly company objectives into clear, measurable, time-bound commitments
  • Establish and manage weekly, monthly and quarterly business review rhythms
  • Identify risks, variances and cross-functional dependencies, and help resolve them
  • Report progress and key issues to the President and executive committee
  • Design and manage employee performance cycles, including expectations, evaluation criteria, tools, timelines and manager guidance
  • Facilitate calibration sessions across managers
  • Help managers improve performance conversations and foster a culture of continuous feedback
  • Build reliable performance data to support compensation and talent decisions
  • Support salary bands, hiring plans, HR policies and practices
  • Collaborate with the external HR partner
  • Support board governance, including the board calendar and governance rhythm
  • Coordinate preparation timelines, minutes, resolutions and follow-up on board actions
  • Serve as the central point of contact for external consultants and professional services firms
  • Manage the scope, budgets and performance of external mandates
  • Support AI adoption and strategy across teams
  • Take on other responsibilities as delegated

Requirements

  • 6–9 years of professional experience, including cross-functional experience
  • Experience in tech, marketplaces, SaaS, retail or other relevant business environments
  • Proven experience designing or rebuilding a performance management system
  • Experience facilitating performance calibration sessions across managers, including senior leaders
  • Strong systems thinking and the ability to turn ambiguity into clear processes, defined ownership and accountability mechanisms
  • Confidence and judgment to challenge senior stakeholders, including the President, when necessary
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience implementing AI tools and driving measurable adoption within a team or organization
  • Full professional fluency in both French and English, spoken and written
