Bilingual facilities assessor conducting building condition inspections for Gordian, a facility and construction cost-data provider. Producing lifecycle findings and replacement-cost estimates for client facilities.
Responsibilities
Review client documentation, including drawings, studies, and maintenance logs, before and during inspections
Perform visual inspections of building systems and architectural and structural systems, including roofing, exits, ramps, flooring, ceilings, and site infrastructure
Review conformance with client standards and compliance with accessibility, fire and life safety, building codes, energy, and sustainability requirements
Collaborate with client facilities management staff to understand facility operations, investments, and functional needs
Use tablets, cameras, and mobile collection software to document findings and justify physical-condition determinations
Develop facility replacement-cost and corrective-measure estimates using existing data libraries and vendor research
Document findings in Gordian's asset management and capital planning software with assessment team members
Perform individual quality assurance for completeness and accuracy in line with project scope
Support client inquiries by providing clarification and guidance on assessment findings
Requirements
Fully Bilingual in French/English (mandatory)
Licensed P.Eng., Architect (OAA), or PQS
Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or Facility/Construction management degree or a combination of equivalent experience
Minimum of 2 years of experience in facility assessment or inspection, facility operations, design, construction, or facility/property management
Knowledge of researching and applying relevant building codes and standards for existing buildings
Experience conducting quantity surveys and estimating replacement values using RS Means or other construction cost data sets
Experience evaluating facility/system conditions and conducting lifecycle analysis to identify deficiencies with corrective cost estimates
Proficiency with computers and mobile devices, including Microsoft Office products (Teams, Word, Excel) and web browsers
Clear written and verbal communication skills
Ability to maintain focus on critical tasks and drive results
Accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to walk and inspect large complexes and climb ladders and stairs, including roofing systems
Ability to travel 20% to 40% nationally and occasionally internationally, up to 2 weeks at a time
Multi-discipline knowledge including architectural, structural, mechanical (HVAC and Plumbing), electrical and/or site utilities is a plus
