About the role
- Maintenance Technician repairing industrial machinery, piping, and power transmission systems for GFL Environmental. Responding to emergencies and supporting safe facility operations across Ontario.
Responsibilities
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical issues, including adjusting, aligning, and repairing power transmission systems, gearboxes, pumps, and fans
- Perform welding, brazing, and soldering
- Service compressed air and water piping systems
- Safely move large, heavy machine components using cranes, jacks, and hoists
- Install new equipment and piping systems
- Read and follow maintenance procedures for electrical and instrumentation equipment
- Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and service manuals
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and applicable codes
- Perform regular housekeeping to maintain a safe and clean work area
- Collaborate with outside contractors and inspectors
- Maintain working relationships with coworkers, contractors, and customers
- Communicate and liaise with other departments
- Respond to and manage maintenance emergencies as required
- Perform other maintenance assignments and duties; work some overtime as necessary
Requirements
- Proven experience in an industrial environment is a strong asset
- Technical knowledge of pumps, filters, gearboxes and valves
- Functional computer skills for logging maintenance activities, tracking work orders, and accessing procedures
- Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail
- Exemplary oral and written communication skills
- G license required
- Ability to work effectively outdoors across various weather conditions
- Availability and willingness to work rotating morning and afternoon shifts
- Valid work authorization in Canada; GFL does not provide visa sponsorship
