About the role

  • Wind turbine Service Technician maintaining and repairing renewable-energy equipment for Nordex in Alberta. Supporting safe 24/7 wind farm operations through troubleshooting, inspections, and maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on wind turbines and related equipment
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems to support reliable turbine performance
  • Follow safety procedures, including LOTO, hazard assessments, and proper use of PPE
  • Complete maintenance reports, service documentation, and work orders accurately
  • Support 24/7 wind farm operations, including on-call, overtime, and rotating shift coverage
  • Assist with equipment inspections, root cause analysis, and system upgrades
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and required certifications
  • Work closely with site teams to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality operations
  • Collaborate with operational and back-office teams to maintain wind farm availability and service performance

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of technical training, experience, and safety certifications
  • Wind, electrical, mechanical, or technical education/certification is an asset
  • 0 to 1 year of wind industry experience preferred
  • Experience using hand and power tools
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, including electrical and hydraulic schematics
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Comfortable working at heights over 300 feet (100 meters) and lifting up to 50 lbs (23 kg)
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and confined spaces
  • Ability to travel for training and support at other sites as needed
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving requirements
  • Ability to work in Canada without sponsorship and travel to the U.S. for onboarding and training
  • Commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards on every job
  • Strong understanding of and commitment to safety protocols and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies
  • Proactively identify and mitigate potential safety hazards
  • Properly use applicable safety equipment, including eye protection, hearing protectors, steel-toe boots, and hard hats
  • Communicate effectively with team members and management to ensure a safe working environment
  • Speak and understand English fluently
