About the role

Engineering Manager building and leading high-performing Ruby on Rails teams at Zipline. Driving AI adoption and fostering team growth in a remote-first environment.

Responsibilities

Manage and coach a team of software engineers delivering secure, scalable features for Zipline's enterprise customers.
Partner with Product and Design to scope, prioritize, and deliver solutions.
Own a technical debt roadmap for your teams, identifying and sequencing debt reduction work.
Drive adoption of AI and agentic development workflows within your teams.
Build and maintain team processes that support async, remote-first collaboration.
Represent your teams to engineering leadership and cross-functional partners.
Recruit, hire, and retain strong engineers, fostering a collaborative environment.
Pay attention to team health, individual wellbeing, and career growth.

2+ years of experience in an engineering management role, leading teams of senior individual contributors.
3+ years of hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails at production scale.
Demonstrated proficiency with AI-assisted and agentic development workflows.
Maintain a technical debt roadmap and balance debt reduction against feature delivery.
Coaching and growing engineers, with a track record of promotions and career progression.
Clear and compelling communication skills, especially in a remote-first company.
Experience in designing and operating distributed systems, APIs, and web applications.
