About the role

  • Senior Backend Developer scaling global lodging and cars ecosystem, integrating partners, optimizing systems in travel tech industry.

Responsibilities

  • Implement end-to-end technical integrations with external partners (hotels, accommodations, cars, and GDS), navigating complex communication protocols and distributed data schemas.
  • Write clean, high-performance code in Scala or other JVM languages to maintain, evolve, and uphold rigorous engineering standards for our critical lodging services.
  • Explore and debug complex existing codebases to get to the heart of the infrastructure and resolve production incidents in a distributed systems environment.
  • Collaborate with product managers and operations teams to translate business requirements into technical tasks and estimate delivery timelines.
  • Take full ownership of the development lifecycle for new product features, from initial technical implementation and testing through production deployment.
  • Contribute to designing highly resilient, low-latency services to ensure a seamless booking experience for customers during traffic spikes.
  • Participate in thorough code reviews and identify opportunities to optimize scalability, performance, and overall system health.

Requirements

  • Strong proficiency in Scala or other JVM languages such as Java or Kotlin, with a focus on building high-throughput, scalable services.
  • Proven experience owning technical implementation, testing, and deployment of features within a microservices architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with distributed systems and inter-service communication methods, including gRPC, Pub/Sub, and REST.
  • Ability to ramp up quickly and manage technical ambiguity by independently exploring and executing technical plans within the existing infrastructure.
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong bias for action to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a remote-first environment.
  • Professional curiosity for travel tech and a business-oriented mindset focused on delivering reliable bookings.
