About the role

  • Property Claims Specialist managing claims for residential losses in Canada. Analyzing policy wording, assessing damages, and ensuring prompt settlements with strong customer service focus.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze information gathered, interpret insurance policy wordings, determine coverage, and assess damage on complex residential total losses or complex scope-and-repair claims
  • Develop an action plan to ensure all aspects of the claim are addressed
  • Manage all financial components of the claim, including setting reserves and ensuring prompt and equitable settlements in line with Intact’s policies and standards
  • Ensure clear and concise information and direction are provided to vendors
  • Work with experts, including consultants, appraisers, engineers, and others, to help drive progress throughout the claim
  • Provide superior customer service to external and internal customers, and answer queries related to the claims process
  • Keep up-to-date on Intact’s insurance products, appraisal and investigation techniques, and service standards

Requirements

  • 8+ years of property claims-handling experience, including major-loss residential files; catastrophe experience is an asset
  • Adaptable and agile in a rapidly evolving business
  • A passion for customer service with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated and capable of working in a fast-paced environment
  • A forward-thinker who can foster new ideas
  • Superior organizational skills and results-driven
  • Demonstrated negotiation and conflict-management skills
