About the role

  • Senior Property Claims Adjuster guiding customers through the claims process from first notice to resolution. Collaborating with vendors and experts while managing a diverse portfolio of complex claims.

Responsibilities

  • Guide customers who have experienced a loss to their personal property through the claims process from first notice to resolution
  • Analyze facts, interpret policy wordings, determine coverage, and assess damages on residential large-loss files (typically over $100K) and other complex scope/repair claims
  • Develop and execute action plans to address all aspects of each claim and drive timely progression
  • Manage financials end to end: establish and adjust reserves and deliver prompt, equitable settlements in line with Intact policies and standards
  • Provide clear direction and expectations to field/independent adjusters and vendors; review deliverables for quality and timelines
  • Collaborate with experts (appraisers, engineers, contractors, environmental specialists) to resolve technical issues and maintain file momentum
  • Deliver superior service to policyholders and internal partners; proactively communicate status, next steps, and rationale
  • Maintain current knowledge of Intact’s products, estimating tools, appraisal and investigation techniques, building codes, and market conditions
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, documentation standards, and best practices

Requirements

  • 5+ years of property claims handling experience, including residential large-loss files; catastrophe experience is an asset
  • Strong construction knowledge and proficiency with estimating/review (e.g., Xactimate or equivalent); ability to read and challenge scopes and estimates
  • Demonstrated negotiation and conflict management skills; able to navigate complex coverage and settlement discussions
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a passion for customer service
  • Highly organized, results-driven, and self-directed; effective in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Adaptable, forward-thinking, and continuous-improvement oriented
  • Effective in a hybrid work environment; proficient with collaboration and claims systems
