About the role
- Reliability Engineering Co-Op testing optical switching products and components at Lumentum. Analyzing failures, reliability data, and regulatory qualification results in Ottawa.
Responsibilities
- Perform qualification and regulatory compliance testing for next generation optical switching products
- Perform qualification of electrical and optical sub-components
- Collect and analyze data and compare results with vendor submitted data
- Analyze and characterize failures
- Collect and analyze test, vendor, and field data
- Calculate reliability statistics such as FIT and MTBF
- Prepare reports
- Learn how electro-optical products are tested and how and why they fail
Requirements
- 3rd or 4th year student pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or related discipline
- Must be registered full-time or part time in a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution
- Understanding of optical systems and optical instruments
- Understanding of electrical and optical measurements
- Understanding of Statistics
- Previous experience working with databases, processing large sets of data, and summarizing using AI Tools
- Previous experience with Python, Visual Basic, or other scripting language would be considered an asset
- Ability to scrutinize and interpret data in order to provide meaningful conclusions
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to operate effectively in highly technical and multi project environment
- Organized and motivated individual with attention to detail
- Focused on completing assigned tasks in a timely manner
