About the role
- System Administrator maintaining and optimizing IT infrastructure for Manitoulin Group of Companies. Ensuring reliability, security, and performance across cloud and on-premise systems.
Responsibilities
- Support large environments of Windows & Linux servers and technologies: troubleshooting, proactive management, security management, backups, daily operation and optimization.
- Support cloud workloads in IBM Cloud, including resource provisioning and cost monitoring.
- Test and monitor network and server performance and provide performance statistics and reports; develop strategies for maintaining network infrastructure.
- Assist in vulnerability assessments, patch cycles, and remediation efforts in line with company security policy.
- Responsible for resolving all infrastructure break/fix issues and enhancements in a timely manner.
- Liaise with third-party partners/vendors for prompt rectification of any problems or emergencies.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date system documentation.
- Responsible for software licensing compliance
- Participate in an on-call rotation to respond to infrastructure emergencies outside of regular business hours.
Requirements
- College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science
- 5+ years hands-on technical experience in troubleshooting network and hardware issues
- Application support experience with MS Windows / Linux server and desktop environments
- Virtualization Server setup and administration
- Willing to work in on-call shifts
- Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment and make sound decisions in emergency situations
- Ability to present ideas in a user-friendly language
- Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Strong customer service orientation
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft, Linux, Cisco, Fortinet, CompTIA and Cloud certifications) are an asset.
