About the role
- AVP, AI responsible for leading AI transformation across Group Functions at Manulife. Focusing on Risk, Legal, Procurement, and Compliance with hands-on AI engineering expertise.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end delivery of AI solutions for Risk, Legal, Procurement, and Compliance
- Own delivery roadmaps and execution across a portfolio of initiatives
- Direct multidisciplinary delivery teams, removing blockers and ensuring quality
- Conduct full-stack AI engineering work to accelerate delivery
- Partner with leaders in various functions to surface high-impact AI opportunities
- Ensure all solutions meet enterprise standards for security, data governance, and responsible AI
Requirements
- 8+ years in data science, AI/ML engineering, or applied machine learning
- Hands-on engineering expertise in Python, cloud ML environments, MLOps
- Experience with Agentic AI architectures, orchestration frameworks, and multi-model pipelines highly preferred
- Prior experience with financial crime prevention, including graph-based solutions
- Proven people-leadership experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field
- An advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) is desirable.
