Field Service Technician performing electrical testing for industrial and utility clients across Manitoba. Focused on hands-on problem solving and system maintenance in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
Perform testing, inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting of low, medium, and high voltage systems (up to 600 kV)
Conduct transformer testing (TTR, Doble, insulation resistance, power factor)
Test protective relays (electromechanical & digital) and calibrate power meters
Perform cable testing (VLF, Tan Delta, DC Hipot, power factor)
Inspect and test switchgear, breakers, and automatic transfer switches
Support start-ups and commissioning of critical electrical systems
Respond to urgent customer service calls on a rotating on-call schedule
Accurately collect, document, and analyze test data
Travel to customer sites across Manitoba (and occasionally out of province)
Requirements
Minimum 5+ years of hands-on electrical testing experience, including switchgear, transformers, and protection systems
Electrical Engineering Technology diploma, Electrical Power & Controls degree, or equivalent hands-on experience
NETA Certification (I–IV) is highly desired
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in complex electrical environments
Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Excel, and reporting software (PowerDB a plus)
Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and adherence to electrical safety procedures
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage priorities, and handle emergency calls
Flexible and reliable, with the ability to travel (~50%) and work overtime as needed
Physically capable of performing field work, including lifting (up to 34 kg / 75 lbs), climbing, and working in various environments
