About the role
- Senior Software Engineer improving Nubank’s Kubernetes and AWS computing infrastructure. Shaping platform strategy, solving scalability challenges, and mentoring engineers in Toronto.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the Computing product roadmap by identifying improvement opportunities within the team's scope, working closely with peers and Product Managers
- Identify and pursue opportunities to improve infrastructure performance, costs, and governance
- Act as a technical reference within the team
- Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and documentation
- Participate in technical forums and cross-functional discussions
- Document and communicate technical decisions to stakeholders
- Identify technical and product issues and propose design decisions to mitigate them
- Analyze problems, uncover root causes, and develop solutions for team-level challenges
- Understand the technical aspects, capabilities, and limitations of owned systems
- Contribute to discussions and incremental improvements of foundational infrastructure including Kubernetes, AWS, networking, and service communications
Requirements
- Experience and knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS)
- Strong understanding and hands-on experience with Kubernetes and AWS EKS
- Experience with access management (AWS IAM, Role management)
- Experience with scaling tools like Karpenter, KEDA, and HPA
- Experience with the Golang programming language
- Professional software development experience using at least one modern programming language
- Hands-on production experience with AWS
- Passion for sharing knowledge and mentoring other engineers
- Creativity and analytical thinking to find opportunities to improve the Computing Platform
- Ability to work onsite two to three days per week
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
- English proficiency sufficient for workplace communication
