About the role

  • Senior External Development Lighting Artist creating captivating lighting in video games. Collaborating with designers and engineers while utilizing Unreal Engine expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Create captivating lighting that establishes mood, tells a story, and builds a coherent world.
  • Support level designers by providing lighting assistance to help them achieve their goals.
  • Design and deliver lighting assets as well as IES textures.
  • Create dynamic lighting that brings the environment to life.
  • Collaborate with the VFX team to create atmospheric 3D scenes using the right color palette and other key artistic elements.
  • Create high-end lighting for cinematic sequences.
  • Develop new techniques for next-generation hardware and work collaboratively with engineering teams to expand the required toolset.
  • Analyze scenes to identify performance issues, ensuring all lighting is optimized as much as possible.
  • Collaborate with technical and engine teams to resolve technical lighting issues.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in the video game industry in a similar role.
  • Experience working with Unreal Engine.
  • Experience with published titles.
  • A critical eye for environmental depth from a lighting perspective.
  • Experience with a range of techniques and tools to achieve lighting objectives.
  • Understanding of performance on current-generation consoles.
  • Ability to create all required lighting content (textures, IES, HDR maps, materials, scripts, etc.).
  • Ability to work with artists, designers, and programmers to overcome artistic and technical challenges.
  • Experience generating lightmaps and precomputed (baked) lighting.
  • Stay up to date with technical developments in Unreal Engine.
  • Strong work ethic and self-motivation.
  • Passion for video games.
  • Language: English.
