About the role

  • Senior Lighting Artist lighting environments and optimizing post-process effects for Piranha Games, an action-game studio behind MechWarrior. Collaborating across art and design teams.

Responsibilities

  • Light various exterior and interior environments under the guidance of the Art Director
  • Create, maintain, and optimize post-process effects
  • Develop and document lighting schemes with the Art Director and Technical Artists
  • Collaborate with the texturing team to ensure cohesive materials across lighting schemes
  • Work with the design team to enhance gameplay and storytelling through lighting
  • Develop strategies to maximize performance within technological limitations
  • Optimize lighting schemes to meet performance specifications
  • Develop documentation and tutorials for technical processes
  • Provide and seek feedback within the lighting scope
  • Resolve lighting bugs
  • Investigate new lighting techniques and industry trends
  • Perform other ad-hoc responsibilities as requested

Requirements

  • 7 years+ experience in game development
  • At least 2 shipped AAA titles on consoles and/or PC
  • 3 years+ in a Lighting Artist role
  • Significant experience with Unreal 6 for game production
  • Comprehensive understanding of materials and PBR lighting for games
  • Ability to present and defend work in a group setting
  • Understanding of the technical requirements of real-time content development
  • Understanding of game production methodologies
  • Solid grasp of traditional and digital art styles and techniques
