About the role
- Multimedia Journalist reporting and writing local news for Postmedia's London Free Press. Creating photo, video, and interactive content for digital and print audiences.
Responsibilities
- Report and write stories, and shoot photos for digital and print audiences
- Tailor content to meet digital and print platforms' varying needs
- Develop local story ideas daily and pivot quickly to other newsroom priorities
- Use social media and digital tools to identify breaking news and real-time audience interests
- Cultivate sources to break stories and help set the news agenda
- File video clips for digital platforms
- Work with digital teams to create interactive content and multimedia elements
Requirements
- Journalism school graduate or candidate from a related field
- Newsroom experience is an asset
- Ability to quickly layer and prioritize needs to move up a learning curve
- Ability to write effectively in breaking news, features and short form
- Ability to write non-traditional story formats such as explainers and Q/As
- Experience and strength in video or podcast presentation is an asset
- A valid driver's licence and access to a personal vehicle are assets
