About the role
- Journalist reporting for Postmedia’s Fredericton Daily Gleaner, part of a Canadian news media company. Developing breaking news, multimedia, and audience-focused content remotely in New Brunswick.
Responsibilities
- Develop content for web, mobile, print, and other platforms
- Generate daily story ideas and pivot to changing newsroom priorities
- Use social media and digital tools to identify breaking news and reader interests
- Cultivate sources to break stories and help set the news agenda
- Collaborate with digital teams to create interactive multimedia content, including text, photos, and video
- Cover a wide range of news and subjects under tight deadlines
- Work remotely with Postmedia's news teams and report for the Fredericton Daily Gleaner
Requirements
- Graduating journalism school student or graduate, or candidate from a related field
- Newsroom experience is an asset
- Ability to quickly layer and prioritize work in a newsroom
- Flexibility to work on breaking news, features, short form, and non-traditional story formats
- Curiosity and ability to uncover hidden story angles
- Ability to convey the meaning behind news concisely
- Experience and strength in video, podcast presentation, and other digital tools is an asset
- Valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle are assets
- Bilingualism in English/French is an asset
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
