About the role
- Multimedia Journalist reporting and writing local news for Postmedia’s London Free Press. Producing digital, print, photo, video and interactive multimedia content.
Responsibilities
- Report and write stories for digital and print audiences, tailoring content to each platform
- Shoot photos for stories
- Develop local story ideas daily and pivot to newsroom priorities
- Use social media and digital tools to identify breaking news and real-time audience interests
- Cultivate sources to break stories and help set the news agenda
- File video clips for digital platforms
- Collaborate with digital teams to create interactive content and multimedia elements
Requirements
- Journalism school graduate or candidate from a related field
- Ability to quickly layer and prioritize needs to move up a learning curve
- Ability to write effectively in breaking news, features, short form, explainers and Q/As
- Ability to use digital tools and social media for news gathering and story development
- Ability to report and write for digital and print audiences
- Ability to shoot photos for stories
- Ability to file video clips for digital platforms
- Ability to work to tight deadlines
- Experience in video or podcast presentation is an asset
- Newsroom experience is an asset
- Valid driver's licence and access to a personal vehicle are assets
