About the role
- Multimedia Journalist reporting and producing local news for Postmedia’s London Free Press. Creating stories, photos, videos and interactive content for digital and print audiences.
Responsibilities
- Report and write stories, and shoot photos, for digital and print audiences
- Tailor content to the varying needs of digital and print platforms
- Develop local story ideas daily and pivot quickly to newsroom priorities
- Use social media and digital tools to identify breaking news and real-time local interests
- Cultivate sources to break stories and help set the news agenda
- File video clips for digital platforms
- Work with digital teams to create interactive content and multimedia elements
Requirements
- Journalism school graduate or candidate from a related field
- Newsroom experience is an asset
- Ability to quickly layer and prioritize needs and move up a learning curve
- Ability to write effectively in breaking news, features, short form, explainers and Q/As
- Interest in explanatory journalism and ability to uncover hidden story angles
- Ability to concisely convey why and how stories matter
- Experience and strength in video or podcast presentation is an asset
- Valid driver’s licence and access to a personal vehicle are assets
