About the role

  • Senior Systems Administrator role responsible for supporting RBC's Active Directory technology solution. Collaborating with teams and managing systems issues across a global infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Senior Manager, Active Directory Services, this role is responsible to assess, research, analyze business and technical security infrastructure requirements in order to support and resolve systems issues within the RBC supported Active Directory technology solution
  • This role partners across T&O projects and technical teams, business partners and external vendors
  • Responsible for Application and technical system support within the Active Directory team with a goal of being recognized as a “best in class" service provider and partner of choice for all stakeholder groups
  • Ensure effective internal controls are executed by team
  • Own quality, quantity, and timeliness of team service delivery
  • Partner with Senior Manager or Director to execute the overall change strategy for the team
  • Provide point of escalation and resolution for incidents and project related issues
  • Guide, coach, and mentor junior team to drive optimal performance from team members
  • Manages the detail aspects of day-to-day business operations for the supported products and applications
  • Effectively communicates and builds rapport within the team members, stakeholders, partners and vendors using a variety of techniques and collaboration from initiation to close
  • Facilitates small to large group meetings for technical design, decision making, and problem solving and task implementation
  • Prepares and delivers presentations to business and technology partners and senior management, selecting the appropriate approach based on the audience
  • Resolves conflicts/issues and escalates others as appropriate
  • Investigate urgent issues and escalate requests accordingly ensuring a valid business reason is provided
  • Participate in meetings with support partners for changes to process and procedures and manage the knowledge base accordingly
  • Identify, introduce, and implement opportunities to streamline processes
  • Ensure processes are accurate and current by reporting on gaps and informing team members, leads and Management of changes or updates to processes; ensure appropriate updates are made to associated documentation
  • Work to build strong relationships within own team
  • Demonstrates understanding of colleagues’ roles and responsibilities, and impact of own work on others
  • Provide constructive feedback and suggestions to better the overall performance of our team
  • Perform own job responsibilities with commitment to quality and customer satisfaction - doing what's right, for the team, for the enterprise

Requirements

  • 5 or more years of experience in a technical role including sound knowledge of RBC technical computer platforms
  • University or College Degree in Computer Science or a related field is required
  • ITIL v3: Foundations, Operational Support & Analysis
  • Technical Certification in an IT area
  • Strong technical writing aptitude
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong ability to manage client and stakeholder relations
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities
  • Strong sense of urgency and the ability to shift tasks in high pressure environment
  • Attention to detail and high degree of accuracy
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policies, Networking, Powershell
  • Strong working knowledge and hands-on experience of Windows 2008, 2012 and 2016 operating systems platforms, DNS, networks, DMZs, firewalls, network security zones and IPv6
  • Deep, in-depth working knowledge of Kerberos (Microsoft) and NTLM authentication, SSO and federation technologies (hands-on experience)
  • Extensive and deep knowledge of Group Policy Objects (GPOs), engineering, implementing and 3rd party management solutions, including GPP, ADMX, ADML
  • Strong knowledge of LDAP and ability to comfortably construct queries
  • Overarching broad and deep technical experience with Active Directory Security
  • Hands-on experience with LDS, LDAP, SPN, IP Addressing, and AD replications
  • On-call 24/7 rotation
