About the role
- Senior Transmission Line Engineer responsible for designing high voltage transmission lines. Involves cost analysis, design criteria development, and project leadership for grid infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Design transmission lines in the 69kV to 500kV range
- Conduct cost analyses and develop design criteria
- Handle routing and siting of transmission lines
- Execute conductor selection studies, shielding, grounding, and induction studies
- Collaborate with vendors and clients for specifying transmission line components
- Direct a small project team
- Work with experienced engineers to mentor less experienced staff
- Travel for site visits and client meetings
- Develop proposals and cost estimates for new work
Requirements
- BS degree from a Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board-accredited undergraduate program or US based ABET-accredited program
- Proficiency with PLS-CADD software to review transmission line models
- 7+ years of experience as part of a project team with transmission assignments
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles for technical plans and drawings
- Familiarity with design codes and standards such as NESC, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI 318
- Proficiency with MS Office applications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Valued but not required: Current P.Eng license or ability to acquire one in a year, experience in proposals and cost estimates, experience with scheduling, proficiency with PLS-TOWER, SAG10, LPILE, MFAD, ArcGIS, CDEGS, AutoCAD, MicroStation.
