About the role

  • Managing Director leading compensation strategy, analytics, governance, and M&A support for SLC Management, a global institutional asset manager. Hybrid role based in Toronto or New York.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a small team responsible for SLC Management compensation delivery
  • Develop and manage compensation programs aligned with business objectives
  • Lead the annual compensation cycle, market benchmarking, salary and incentive design, compensation recommendations, and job evaluation
  • Ensure compensation governance and compliance with applicable legislation
  • Champion compensation philosophy and partner with HR and business leaders on rewards programs
  • Contribute to total rewards strategy and integrated delivery
  • Build relationships with HR Business Partners, business leaders, and cross-functional teams
  • Develop financial and data models for workforce planning, headcount growth, and staffing scenarios
  • Design and execute rewards communications and change-management strategies
  • Conduct market research, internal analysis, scenario modeling, impact assessment, and transition planning
  • Monitor market, regulatory, and industry trends affecting compensation
  • Lead HR due diligence and support post-transaction integration for M&A activities
  • Support capability-building, talent development, coaching, feedback, and performance management

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
  • 10+ years of experience
  • University education in Business, Human Resources or a related field
  • MBA or MIR is an asset
  • Deep expertise designing, implementing, and managing compensation strategies and programs
  • Experience with asset management compensation and M&A due diligence and/or integration work is a significant asset
  • Broader total rewards experience is beneficial but not required
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Experience coaching, developing, and managing people
  • Ability to manage complexity and collaborate with HR colleagues, vendors, and brokers/consultants
  • Highly organized with ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to declare personal investment accounts and securities investments and obtain preclearance for future transactions, including household members’ transactions
