Intermediate Water Resources Engineer supporting mine water management projects across Atlantic Canada. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective water management solutions.
Responsibilities
Support technical analyses related to mine water management for mining projects across Atlantic Canada
Assist in the development and updating of water balance models under guidance from senior staff
Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic analyses to support design and permitting
Contribute to the design and evaluation of water management infrastructure such as diversion channels, ponds, and drainage systems
Support preparation of technical reports, figures, and regulatory submissions
Assist in the design, implementation, and interpretation of water monitoring programs
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate water resources into broader mine design and environmental assessments
Participate in field programs as required, including hydrometric data collection and site inspections
Follow internal quality assurance processes and support high-quality project delivery.
Maintain awareness of applicable regulations, guidelines, and evolving best practices.
Promote a strong health and safety culture, particularly during fieldwork.
Requirements
Working knowledge of surface water hydrology and hydraulic principles
Familiarity with mine water management concepts, including water balances, contact water systems, and basic treatment approaches
Experience or exposure to environmental permitting and regulatory processes in Atlantic Canada is considered an asset
Experience supporting water quality and quantity monitoring programs and data analysis
Familiarity with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling tools (e.g., HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, GoldSim, or similar), with the ability to apply them under guidance
Understanding of erosion and sediment control and drainage design principle
Strong attention to detail and ability to perform quality checks on technical work
Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and contribute to collaborative problem-solving
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear and well-structured technical documentation
