About the role

  • Associate .NET Software Engineer building and modernizing Sun Life applications. Delivering secure, high-quality solutions supporting clients’ financial security and wellbeing.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end solutions by collaborating with designers, business analysts, and testing specialists
  • Design and deliver high-quality applications that solve client problems
  • Evaluate and upgrade legacy applications using current technologies and frameworks to reduce technical debt
  • Coordinate with onshore and offshore teams across development, testing, and implementation
  • Embed information security standards into solutions while maintaining production performance and stability
  • Analyze and resolve incidents, optimize performance, and escalate strategically when needed
  • Participate in rotating on-call support for production environments
  • Support project implementations and system upgrades through periodic weekend and after-hours work

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year professional IT experience in Agile-based application development
  • Proficiency with C#, .NET, ASP.NET, REST API, and SOAP-based web services
  • Proficiency with SQL and knowledge of SQL Server and relational database concepts
  • Familiarity with CI/DevOps tools including TFS, Git, Artifactory, and NuGet
  • Familiarity with unit test automation
  • Familiarity with modern development tools including GenAI and Copilot
  • Financial services or insurance industry background is a bonus qualification
  • Experience with Java is a bonus qualification
  • Participation in rotating on-call support for production environments
  • Participation in periodic weekend/after-hours work for project implementations and system upgrades
  • Flexibility for occasional after-hours work and periodic travel between Sun Life locations
  • Reliability Status Clearance required
  • Government of Canada law enforcement inquiry and credit check required
  • Must account for activities during periods of 6 consecutive months lived or travelled outside Canada during the last 5 years
