About the role
- Data Analyst mining client data and delivering insights for Sun Life’s health and financial security services. Supporting marketing campaigns, reporting, automation, and stakeholder recommendations using SQL, PySpark, AWS, and Tableau.
Responsibilities
- Mine data for business insights
- Analyze and interpret trends using statistical tools and techniques
- Report on business performance
- Triage code- and data-related issues
- Perform analytics from requirements specification and data gathering through analysis and presentations
- Deliver clear, information-rich reports
- Support marketing campaigns, client targeting, campaign design, and measurement
- Draw business insights from analytical output and develop business recommendations with team leads
- Prepare and present findings to multiple stakeholder levels with the manager
- Automate recurring tasks and identify efficient ways of working
- Serve as a subject matter expert in client data for stakeholders across Sun Life
- Develop capabilities through internal training, peers, and other learning sources
- Contribute actively to the analytics academy and data science community at Sun Life
- Complete an online job application and online assessment
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience working with data, including quantitative analysis, data handling, manipulation, analysis, hypothesis testing, data modelling, and data visualization
- 2+ years of experience with SQL, PySpark, and other programming languages
- Ability to write accurate, efficient, and complex SQL queries across multiple database sources
- Experience with AWS Cloud Services, including Glue, S3, Athena, or Quick Suite
- Experience with Tableau or other visualization tools
- Experience using oral and written storytelling to communicate data-driven insights clearly and succinctly
- Strong partnering approach and commitment to meeting business partners’ needs and expectations
- Prioritization, planning, and change management skills
- Ability to learn new applications and processes quickly with minimal direction
- Ability to document work
- Reliability Security Clearance required
- Must satisfactorily complete applicable background checks before starting and during employment
- Must account for activities during any period of living or travelling outside Canada for six consecutive months during the last five years, as required by the Government of Canada
- Understanding of predictive and prescriptive techniques, Salesforce, Generative AI, Agentic AI, Conversational AI, MS Excel, and MS Access are nice to have
- MSc in a statistical, mathematical, or technical field is preferred
