About the role

  • Project Portfolio Analyst supporting financial planning and portfolio management at Sun Life. Collaboration with finance and delivery teams for accurate reporting and portfolio data management.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Director, Business Portfolio Management with ongoing activities such as financial reporting, annual forecasting, strategic planning, and ceremony/meeting execution.
  • Support monthly and quarterly portfolio financial activities, including expense review, variance analysis, cost allocation validation, forecast support, and reconciliation across portfolio tracking tools and Finance inputs.
  • Partner with Finance, PMs, Journey/Platform teams, and delivery stakeholders to clarify portfolio data, resolve discrepancies, support reporting, and ensure portfolio information remains current and reliable.
  • Assist with regular stakeholder meetings via preparing agendas, sourcing pre-read material, managing conflicts, and documenting and following up on actions.
  • Support other day-to-day portfolio management ad-hoc tasks.
  • Work with Journey and Platform owners to maintain and update portfolio roadmaps, help prioritize deliverables and manage backlogs.
  • Create and deliver stakeholder communications for ongoing priorities, including status updates, roadmap, dependencies, pressure points and key decisions requiring alignment.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience supporting financial planning, expense tracking, forecasting, variance analysis, cost allocation, reporting, and reconciliation activities.
  • 3–5 years of experience supporting portfolio management, financial analysis, business operations, or project coordination.
  • University degree or college diploma, preferably in Business, Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, combined with relevant work experience.
  • Proficient Excel skills are required, including the ability to build and maintain pivot tables, analyze large data sets, and support financial/portfolio reporting; experience with PowerPoint is also desired.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a proven ability to partner and build relationships across teams and stakeholder groups.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to data quality, with the ability to identify inconsistencies, reconcile information across sources, and follow through to resolution.
  • Proven flexibility, adaptability, and creativity to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
  • Outcome-focused and results-driven.
  • Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills, combined with strong business sense.
