About the role

  • Student Solution Architect supporting Sun Life’s financial-services architecture team. Building AI proofs of concept and scalable solutions using AWS, Java, and Python.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Canada Retail Advice & Solutions Architecture team in creating solutions
  • Conduct analysis across business and technical dimensions
  • Solve enterprise-wide complex business requirements
  • Work with architects to build and scale AI solutions across business and operational processes
  • Demonstrate forward thinking about business direction and technology support
  • Contribute to architecture patterns and practical best practices at Sun Life
  • Collaborate with enterprise architecture teams to create and maintain architectural standards emphasizing reuse
  • Support operational processes and create documentation with solution architects
  • Support transitions of processes to operationally focused teams
  • Create proofs of concept for technical concepts
  • Develop documentation describing and explaining concepts and related solutions

Requirements

  • Enrolled in 2nd year or later of a university computer science, engineering or other technically-focused degree program
  • Graduation date of April 2027 or later
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaboration and team building skills
  • Excellent relationship management skills
  • Excellent problem analysis and trouble shooting skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work as a multi-tasker in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment
  • Prior experience working in a matrixed or virtual environment
  • Knowledge or experience in cloud computing and AI technologies
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java and Python
  • Experience with AWS, including Bedrock, GenAI, Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Model Context Protocol (MCP), LangChain, and OpenAI Technologies
  • Ability to recognize and understand cultural and organizational dynamics to accomplish objectives
  • Ability to apply judgment and make decisions in a dynamic and ambiguous environment
  • Results-oriented, able to deliver to deadlines, multi-task, and prioritize tasks
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
